What does the Bible really say about homosexuality?
The debate rages.
Liberal and conservative Christians, who say
they equally desire to follow Christ, interpret
the Scriptures very differently.
It is true that the Bible has been used by
some Christians to allow slavery, racism, sexism,
and, yes, to foment hatred against homosexuals.
This is grievously wrong, and does not represent
an accurate interpretation of the Scripture.
However, to say that God created homosexuality
as a “gift” and delights in monogamous
homosexual unions is also not an accurate interpretation
of Scripture.
Many evangelical Christians believe that the
Bible should never be used to promote hate,
racism, slavery, or homophobia. At the same
time, they believe the Bible teaches that homosexual
behavior falls short of God’s design and
will for us. In turn, they extend love to the
gay community and want to help those who struggle
with unwanted same-sex attraction.
Believing that homosexual behavior is sinful
is not the same as being hateful and anti-gay.
And yet this is just what the secular media
and pro-gay groups, including the pro-gay movement
in our own churches and denomination, want people
to believe.
Please take time to watch the trailers for
these two movies with very opposing viewpoints.
The Christian evangelical Church needs to educate
herself as to what the Bible truly does say
about homosexuality if we are to stand against
the onslaught of the secular media and the onslaught
from those within our own Church.
In addition to watching these trailers, we
